Spirit
This is the first single that was put out in anticipation leading up to the album's release, setting a pretty high standard for what the rest of "GRIT" had to offer. A very melodic track, doing a great job of representing this record and kept us more than satisfied during the wait for the release.
No Fun Intended
I am definitely convinced that 2018 will mark the revival of the skatepunk scene (not that it ever truly died). This track supports my claim with it's hard hitting skatepunk sound, exactly what we needed leading in to what I'm sure will the summer of skatepunk. But, with all the big names that have albums on the way how could you disagree? This record is just the beginning and it started off with a bang.
Runner's High
A slight change in sound with this song, in my opinion it has more of a pop punk kind of sound (which is always welcomed). It is really catchy, and melodic. A great song for summer/spring time weather, great work from the band.
The Humdrum Way
A song about doing everything that you're supposed to without questioning it, instead doing what you feel is right, the word "humdrum" for those that may not know is defined as lacking exicitement or variety. "Thinking out loud? You must be joking" is a great line from this track because it sums it up perfectly.
Forth
A feeling that many people have felt, being willing to follow someone you care about or maybe even love whether road they go down, or vice versa. This track shapes up to be my favorite song on the record so far.
Fortunate Smile
Happiness is key, highlighted in this song. No matter what it is you have to do it is always great to remain with a smile on your face. Positivity is very important. This is album is banger after banger, this track is no exception. I love the message in this track.
Suitable Victim
This song reminds me a lot of modern 88 Fingers Louie, especially when I hear the drum work, it may also be very easy for some people to relate to, as they may few themselves as the "suitable victim", yet another awesome song from this killer record.
Sucker (For A Plan)
Starting off with a sick modern punk rock sound, this track makes a lot of great points lyrically. But back to the instrumentals, this kind of sound embodies new age punk rock with an extremely catchy guitar riff, and excellent lyrics, what more could you ask for?
Simple
A perfect summarization of how the world seems to be going about things these days, "everybody just shakes their heads and wonders why" is pretty much exactly what people do when they hear about issues around the world, when if you were to pay attention you would not have to wonder why at all.
A Wonderful Affair
Yet another sick guitar riff. Kicking off this song. The drumming is this song is absolutely insane, probably some of the best on this album. "GRIT" started off with power and has continued to maintain it, which is great! Very thankful for this album.
Lonely Stranger
Second to last track! Here is a very quotable song, "intesify the madness, and the future will be bright". This is album has been nothing but great so far and it seems that it will be awesome all the way through which I am not surprised about. I love the lyrics in the song, making it my favorite song from "GRIT".
You're In Control
Closing off this record is a song about thinking you're in control without actually being in control. "you've think you got a master plan" sums up the song pretty well as this is the song's main message, a message that some people really need to hear.
Conclusion:As is it great to see No Fun At All release an album in 2018, I was kind of let down, don't get me wrong it's a great album but heading into this I had high hopes. Maybe I expected too much, I'm not trying to disrespect the band or the work as I actually enjoyed this album. Great work, guys!
